Dan from the Enfield Bonsai Group kindly sent me some photos showing the trees exhibited at Capel Manor this weekend past. I had previously blogged the poster here to help get the word out. Happy to do this for any club event pretty much anywhere in the world as I seem to have viewers from everywhere! All photos also gratefully received.

Kanagawa Union Bonsai Exhibition Individual Trees
Kanagawa Union Bonsai Exhibition – Japan
I have been admiring the shohin displays on one of the Japanese Blogs that I follow. I have been allowed to share these with you here. Taken at the Kanagawa Union Bonsai Exhibition. This is an amateur exhibition with trees from several clubs in the Kanagawa area.
Dutch Club Exhibition Photos
Harry, my Dutch friend has shared some more photos with me.
These where taken at a club exhibition yesterday. It’s a relatively new club who are exhibiting their trees in order to attract some new members.
The group was initiated and is still facilitated by Johan van Frankenhuyzen, a bonsai-enthusiast from their local garden centre. Website . I’m told that he is the driving force behind the hobby group.
Bruno Wijman is the lead in their workshops through the world of bonsai art and techniques. This is his website.
Here are a few photos from the exhibition. If I get any links for more photos, I’ll update the post.

Shohin UK Exhibition 2013

Thought I’d share this here for all those UK based enthusiasts. In fact, that’s rather restrictive, feel free to attend from wherever you are!
I have cut and pasted the below info from the Facebook page recently set up. I have clicked the ‘Maybe’ button for attendance but I’ll have to wait until closer to the time before I know if I can attend. Seeing who is doing the organising, I can assure you that this will be a quality event.
On behalf of the organising team, I am pleased to announce that an exciting national UK Shohin Bonsai show dedicated to smaller bonsai, will be held on Sunday, March 24th 2013. This exciting national event is being organised by Mark & Ritta Cooper and Bob Bailey, with the support of the Bristol Bonsai Society, the British Shohin Association, and the Federation of British Bonsai Societies.
This will be the only UK national exhibition dedicated to Shohin bonsai in 2013 and will be a “must visit event” for all Shohin Bonsai enthusiasts.

Rose Show
I had the pleasure of judging the bonsai entries at the Rose Show in Belfast yesterday. I small local flower show held as part of the bigger Rose Week event at Sir Thomas and Lady Dixon Park.
The bonsai aspect was small, our club supports the Rose Society by always getting a few entries in to fill the space and add interest for the public. As far as bonsai go, it’s not what we aspire too in our own displays with the usual low tables and cramped space. For that reason and the poor photos that resulted from inside a marquee, I’ll not bombard you with poor quality photos. I will however share some photos taken from within the park itself showing both the roses and some nice trees.
First, photos from inside the flower show marquee during judging. The rest from within the park Rose Gardens and Japanese Garden. When I show the Rose name it’s because is a highly perfumes variety that my wife is determined to add to our garden.
Kurume Azalea Festival
Nekotoban was kind enough to share these photos with me in a recent email and I thought I would share them with you lot as well. Photos taken at the Kurume Azalea Festival back in April. What I’d give to go and see this for myself!

Show Critique
Get the kettle on and then sit down and enjoy.I love watching this sort of show critique, especially when messers Neill and Noelanders know their stuff 🙂
Shohin Satsuki
I have this lovely little Satsuki at the moment. It belongs to Bertie, one of our club members who exhibited it at our recent exhibition. I have it until he returns from holiday. I couldn’t resist a photo in flower.
