Cotoneaster Pot Virtuals

Following on from my last post, I have done a few quick pot virtuals. Having neglected this tree in terms of styling and design for years, it’s about time I did all I can to improve it. I could just sell it and be done, but, being one of my first trees, I just can’t do it!

Anyway, here are a few virtuals. I have also added a little foliage to fill out the image slightly.

I did these 2 with shallower ovals, as per Peter’s comment suggestion on the other post. Both improve the overall image.

However I think the shape of this pot suits the tree better. I suppose personal taste comes into this. I even added a few extra berries 🙂

Having done the one above I decided to shrink the pot a tad. This , I think, is the best of the 4 options I tried.

  1. I like the tree a lot. Great synthesis of delicate fruit and ruggedness in the trunk. I like the last two the most The first is a good, conservative choice; especially when considering the fruit. The fourth brings out the age in tree best in my opinion. consider looking at a potential front about 10 degrees left of the current one. It may give the upper half of the trunk a little more movement. Just my opinion. Very nice tree.

    • Hi Owen, Thanks for taking the time to reply. I appreciate your thoughts on this tree. It’s a hard one to get a good balance. A flowering tree that has either flowers or fruit most of the year, but also a rugged tree with all the deadwood. I didn’t plan to have so much deadwood but the tree had other ideas lol. It’s hard to pick a pot that works well with both elements. I think that’s why the fourth pot works better for me.

Keep the comments coming, all advice greatly received 🙂
