When I was in Florida a few years back I picked up this little fern courtesy of Rick J who’s bonsai collection I visited. I just love the red foliage. I keep it permanantly in the poly tunnel and it seems to work. I managed to split it in the Autumn and ended up with three. One now resides in Scotland. Pot by Susan Francesca Hunter


Good job Ian…..I like those little ferns….I’ve been calling it a Japanese Golden fern as most the time it is either a pretty lime green or golden……must not get cold enough here to turn red….nice pot….

Hey Rick, good to hear from you buddy. It’s been red here since I got it 🙂 It was a real shock to it’s system coming to Ireland! I have just got a few of the golden Japanese Ferns, I’m watching carefully to see if they throw a fir too 🙂
Did you ever style that big Holly, at least I think it was a holly? That was a keeper.
