Stephen’s new Japanese Maple Raft. We eventually got to see it sans leaf on Sunday. I plucked off the last 4 leaves 🙂
A lot of clearing out required but I was happy to see some decent ramification with close inter-nodal length in there. Bodes well for the future with the right care.

I really like this tree!

Hi Jim, It’s an unusual tree style for a Japanese Maple. Stephen, the owner, always has an eye for the unusual. I wasn’t sure about the variety and it’s ability to ramify when I first saw it in a photo but, after seeing it in person, I think it will build up twigs nicely. In case you missed it on the blog in leaf, here’s a link to it being delivered. https://bonsaieejit.com/2011/10/11/another-tree-delivery/

it going to be interesting to see how the ramification can be improved with the right sort of attention,
I wonder if the extreme right side trunks can be brought nearer to the soil level ? by slight change at re potting and or pulling down ??

We talked about that. It’s crying out for that. I think it’ll pull down ok and perhaps some extension growth to that side.
