Funny how being busy at work you miss the little changes in the colour. I spotted a flash of red on the bench this morning and when I returned from work I grabbed the camera.

When I first saw this video I thought I was going to see a new style of Chinese Bonsai, you know, like Lingnam etc.
Boy was I wrong ❗ Have a great weekend.
Enjoy 🙂
I took a few snaps the other night during a bonsai session with friends in my garage.
As Sharon was the only female and due to the looks of a few of the attendees…
Here’s Grumpy, Dopey, Doc, ……

You can almost hear the cogs turning as Phil [Dopey] looks for options in Sharon’s lovely little Itogawa Juniper.

Another movie reference, Bertie [bashful], ‘The Quiet Man’. 🙂

See Alan [Doc], you do look like you know what you are doing 🙂

Ben [happy] working on another Sumo Bonsai, this time a pyracantha.

and also working on his Ivy

Graham [sneezy] makita’ing away at his yew.

Ian B [sleepy] getting some needle removal done

Some how Hugh [the Prince] and Michael [Grumpy] seemed to avoid the camera!
This is what bonsai is all about, a good night’s craic 😆
This latest one looks at Japanese White Pine. I have learned a few hard lesson about this species in the UK climate over the years. Don’t treat it like other pine species here. Beware of over watering, don’t candle prune and take it easy when removing needles in the Autumn. Some interesting answers in the FAQ section of this video too.
This Cotoneaster, also on rock, mustn’t be as tasty as the other one. The berries seem to have survived so far.

Some nice Autumn colour on my root over rock Cotoneaster. An unusual deciduous variety with elongated berries. Now left now though, the birds love them 😦

Another Milestone for the blog.

Thank you to all who have encouraged me in keeping up the flow of posts. I have become a little OCD about daily posts 😆 but I hope most of them have been worth reading, or in most cases, viewing the photos. The blog has grown from the initial plans I had from it. I’m very far from being anything even close to the quality of some of the artists out there. I even say the word artist expecting ridicule. Therefore to have this blog receive on average 500 hits+ a day from over 150 countries is mind blowing.
I’m aware that many check in for links to other exhibitions and videos and that’s fine by me. In fact, if you have a video you want to share, a show you want to promote, or have photos from a show anywhere in the world that you want to share, I am happy to help spread the bonsai love 🙂
Thank You!
This root over rock Cotoneaster has under gone a few changes this year with the top air-layered off and the process of creating a new apex under way.
I at least thought that I would get the chance to enjoy it’s usual excellent show of berries. No, not this year. I’ve been the victim of a raid! All but two berries have gone and I even found some evidence of the thief being there 😕

The two survivors

Spot the evidence, freshly dropped by the look of it. It’s as well I love wildlife 😆
