I took some of my family, visiting from Australia, up to the North Coast yesterday. On my way I stopped briefly ay the Pine trees lining the Frosses Road near Ballymoney. I have always admired these pines leaning over the road creating an arch. Well, they used too until some were removed for safety reasons!!
Here’s a few pics of the pines.

Have similar near my son’s house near Thetford forest. Often wondered why we don’t seem to see these styled more in Bonsai. Most pines seem to carry more branches and foliage. I suppose like all artistic disciplines we tend to follow the classic examples rather than our own aesthic taste.

I agree Dave, I would love to see more styled like this, rather than the traditional Japanese image. I like both, and a mix at exhibitions in the UK would be nice to see. I can remember Will Baddeley styling one like this recently and I’ve seen a few from the Welsh guys.

I always find it a bit dangerous driving up that Frosses Road because my eyes are always wandering up to admire those pine trees! Definitely one of our wee country’s most recognisable landmarks.
