Friends Flowers

I visited a friends garden a few days back and snapped a few of his flowers in the garden. Some stunning clematis.

Not a pretty sight but here’s myself, Piotr and Owen, the three chairmen of the three clubs together at the NI Bonsai Society School over the weekend. Maybe early days to call Owen a Chairman to be honest but he’s the one who took the plunge and has the first meeting set up for 27th June in Balbriggan.

We had three with us from the new Leinster Bonsai Club, Owen, Elisabeth and John. They got a little taste of the benefits of being a sister club to the NIBS.

I know I harp on about it at times but friendship is a big part of bonsai for me and it’s great to get this new club link rolling.

School’s Out for Summer

Well that’s the club’s Bonsai School over until after the Summer. I had a great weekend in the sun with a bunch of bonsai folk who also seem to have had a good time. Here’s a few snaps from the weekend.

Decision to Make

This root over rock Cotoneaster is up for a make over. The bottom branch is very low and although it looks fine in it’s bare winter image, it has been bothering me in leaf. It doesn’t get much light and can get a little weak and leggy. I was looking at it a few days back with a view to removing it. One of the benefits would be to show off the root over rock portion a little better. I took this photo and then photoshopped the branch away. I then extended the branch above slightly and think we have  found the way to go.

Berberis Cleanout

My newly acquired Berberis clump got a cleaning out on Saturday. It has grown strongly since being lifted and I wanted to get rid of the congested shoots on the inside and shorten some leggy branches.

This was it before

And after, two options for a front.
