Kurume Azalea Festival

Nekotoban was kind enough to share these photos with me in a recent email and I thought I would share them with you lot as well. Photos taken at the Kurume Azalea Festival back in April. What I’d give to go and see this for myself!

New Link

I really should remember that many people visiting this blog are not English speakers! By titling a recent post as ‘Big Girl’s Blouse‘, I may well be confusing the issue. Some head scratching going on I’m sure.

What made me consider this is the recent influx of Japanese hits on the blog thanks to a recent connection with Chie , a trainee at Yamato Nursery in Japan and her blog.

Through this I now introduce you to Nekotoban’s Blog. She kindly contacted me after finding me on Chie’s blog. She has recently started her own blog in English. I hope to follow her travels around some of the nurseries in Japan and I think our love of mame and shohin is mutual. Click HERE to visit the new blog. I have also added her to my friends list in the side bar.

Shohin Display – Japan

Found these on a Japanese Blog and the blog owner has kindly let me share the best of the pics here. I have added a general link for the blog at the bottom and on my favourite blog list on my side panel  if you want to follow. I will say that Google Translate leaves a lot to be desired when dealing with Japanese but it is well worth following it to see some lovely Shohin Bonsai!

The Blog

Bonsai Unearthed Blog

I’m always looking for new, quality Bonsai blogs to follow. Bonsai Unearthed is a new blog just started by Owen Reich. When I say new, it started on 22nd May and I only found it today 🙂 Owen has been kind enough to leave constructive comments here on my blog and even let me use some of his wonderful photos from Japan.

This is a link to his fist post, and if this is anything to go by, we are in for a treat. and I don’t just say that because I got a mention 😉

Bonsai Unearthed

Make sure you check out his other newer posts as well. I have been rather presumptuous and have added him to my bonsai friends links on my side bar. Bonsai is not just about wee trees, it’s about friendship, for me at any rate.

Kokufu Market Part 2

Here’s the second part of Jose’s visit to the Kokufu market. Some stunning trees to see, oh to be in Japan this week. Some absolutely stunning shohin trees on the benches.

I really don’t get the Japanese fascination with wearing face masks out in public! Surely the air isn’t that bad!! Perhaps the market was beside the local hospital over lunch hour 🙂

Bonsai Art of Japan/America

Here’s the latest episode in the series. Bit of a twist this time as it’s actually American material being used. Still top class presentation as usual.

Looks cold there with that big coat on 🙂

Journey to Japan Part 5

I believe this is the final instalment from Andrew Sellman’s trip to Japan.

The main focus is on the ASPAC Convention. He had made a grand job of condensing the multiple demos into a quick snapshot of before and afters.

Dreaming…

I dream of getting to Japan to see quality trees like these! It must be amazing to walk down row after row of fantastic bonsai. It must also be frustrating if you can’t afford to buy any 🙂

Journey to Japan

I stumbled across these on You Tube and think they deserve a few more hits. It follows Andrew Sellman’s trip to Japan. Some very clever editing in there too.

Mr Warren pops up in this one 🙂

Bjorvala Video Number 22

Here’s the latest Bonsai Art of Japan Video showing Taikan-ten Exhibition in Japan. An interesting insight into how they set these things up.
