Accent of the Day – Hosta Gingee

Had this variety for ages and is well suited to accent pot culture. I have only just had it identified as Gingee by Bali Hai Nursery.

Pollen

Alot of trees seem to be having a good year as far as flowers go. I have seen a lot more flowers on pines, Scots, Mugo and Japanese White.

This ones a Mugo at Stephen’s house the other day. Anybody else seeing more of this this year?

This Common Juniper also at Stephen’s only had to be touched to raise a cloud of pollen.

Accent of the day – Lewisia

I have a lot of accent hitting their best at the moment, so I’m going to pop one or two up each day until I run out of plants or interest, whichever comes first 🙂

My New Baby

This is my latest acquisition, a Root over Rock  Itiogawa  Juniper from Willowbog Bonsai. This is it just as I bought it. I’m not working on it until the Peter Warren Workshop in September, but I will do a little clean up of the shari and bark and inner weak foliage.

The Wedding

Congratulations to Phil and Suse for what was a fantastic day out for all the guests sharing in their big day. Sun was shining, drink was flowing and the craic was mighty 🙂

Here is the day in photos for those who know them and want a closer look.

Well done Mark the Best Man, I think we worked well as a team on the day in keeping Phil right 😉 As a kind gesture, at the end of the day we swapped a cuff link, a nice moment.

And a big thanks to Suse and Phil making me walk into the top table to the the song, ‘Here Come The Girls’!! 😛

The Big Day

If you follow this blog you will have seen and heard a lot about one of my best friends in life and in Bonsai. I have known Phil now for 19 years, and today he marries Suse, who is way too good for him.

I’ll post the odd pic here as the day progresses but I just wanted to take this time to wish both Phil and Suse a long and happy marriage.

I wish I was going to Japan on honeymoon with you both 🙂

Snart on Tour Stop 8

After a quick meal back at home, we both headed over to Josh’s Garden for the last stop on our Tour. I have a funny feeling that this was Peter’s favourite stop.

Josh has quite simply some of the best field grown bonsai in the UK. See for yourself.

Snart on Tour Stop 7

On our way back to County Down, we stopped at Carnlough to visit Bali Hai,  a Hosta Specialist Nursery. Just one phone photo from here but more on what I got at a later date.

Snart on Tour Stop 6

The main target of our tour, the Giants Causeway. Funny rocks surrounded by thousands of tourists. If I sound cynical, I apologise. It’s a beautiful place, but I’ve been here ALOT!
