I’m sure most of you follow happenings at centrobonsaitenerife.blogspot.com , but just in case you don’t, here’s a few of Jose Acuna’s latest video uploads from Japan. Well worth a look, fascinating to see just how things work around the Kokufu Ten and the bonsai markets. Loads more videos on his YouTube Channel . Also loads of photos on his blogsite. I use Google Chrome as my browser and the translate function works a treat for those out there who don’t speak Spanish. Personally I think Bonsai is a language of its own 🙂

Nearly 3500 of this hits on my blog have come via Jose’s website. It’s only right that I return the compliment 🙂

360 Photos

I love the way 360 flash images can be made of our trees allowing you to spin the tree around to appreciate it from every side.

Then Hugh from the club sent me a link to these 360 images that are just spectacular! Makes you wonder where technology will take us next.

Click on the images below to view. Some stunning Autumn colour in the first one and the second one makes you want to run and get your yamadori spade 🙂

Interesting Article

Someone shared a link to this article on Linkedin and I thought it was worth sharing it here. Some beautiful photographs of trees, unfortunately accompanied by a sad story.

Forest Inspiration

Last Friday, when Graham brought this Larch Forest to my house for some work it was admired by some of the other guys there.

Hugh was one of them and a few days later he sent me this photograph that he took in Connemara. It’s a Pine wood growing on an Island at a place called Lough Clare. Hugh said that the larch  group reminded him of this photo and he looked it out for me. If you want to view a bigger image just pop over to my FlickR account, link on the side bar.

As much as I like Graham’s larch Forest, it has a ways to go before it matches this beautiful scene. I feel a Summer trip to the West of Ireland coming on 🙂

Garage Night Tree #6

Ian B brought this Japanese Larch along on Friday past for a little thinning out and advice.

I felt that the image looked a little wrong as the tree seemed to lean back too far and gave the impression that it was unstable.

I suggested that tilting to the right would be a good option now. We only had to loosen the tie wires and shift slightly in the pot. This is the new position.

and this is it after we adjusted it.

Before and after side by side.

Garage Night Tree #5

This is Hugh’s Scots Pine. I sold this one to Hugh about 6 years ago. It was originally collected in Scotland and was the first Scots Pine I ever owned. I was delighted to see it again and help with a restyling.

No after photo as yet as we didn’t get it finished on the night but we’ll keep you posted.

Out of interest, I looked up some old photos of this tree. This first one dates back to 1997.

This is it in 2002.
