Wrong Tree Mate

This young blackbird snuck into my garage on Saturday past to get away from the heavy rain. It perched on top of the wrong tree 🙂

I had to catch another on in the poly tunnel before it done itself a mischief! Another smashed a pot in the greenhouse!! Found a few plants ripped out of the pots too, but you got to love them all the same 🙂

BSA 2014 Exhibition Part 2

Here’s Part 2, this time Valentin Brose takes us on a tour of the exhibits. Valentin has got to be one of the nicest artists in the European bonsai scene.

Ben’s Juniper Carving

At the recent Willowbog Workshop on Sunday Ben brought along his Squamata Juniper for some block carving work by Peter Snart. Peter got Ben to do a little Rip and tear on a few of the finer bits of deadwood first and then he got stuck in with the Makita to do some basic block carving on the heavier areas. Peter reckons he’d need a week to do the tree. If he carves as fast as he walks, I’d believe it too 😉

Friends Flowers

I visited a friends garden a few days back and snapped a few of his flowers in the garden. Some stunning clematis.

Ulster – Munster – Leinster

Not a pretty sight but here’s myself, Piotr and Owen, the three chairmen of the three clubs together at the NI Bonsai Society School over the weekend. Maybe early days to call Owen a Chairman to be honest but he’s the one who took the plunge and has the first meeting set up for 27th June in Balbriggan.

We had three with us from the new Leinster Bonsai Club, Owen, Elisabeth and John. They got a little taste of the benefits of being a sister club to the NIBS.

I know I harp on about it at times but friendship is a big part of bonsai for me and it’s great to get this new club link rolling.

School’s Out for Summer

Well that’s the club’s Bonsai School over until after the Summer. I had a great weekend in the sun with a bunch of bonsai folk who also seem to have had a good time. Here’s a few snaps from the weekend.
