Chuhin Maple – A Long Year

This little Maple has had a hell of a year. After winning an award in the BSA Exhibition back in March it was attacked by some sort of pest and lost numerous branches. After putting me through the mill for a few months thinking it was going to be a very long time before it would be a decent tree again, it decided to pop buds. It budding in areas were I honest thought it had dessicated. It still going to take a few years to work it back to anything approaching it’s best, but it’ll get there. It rewarded me with this Autumn colour as a sign of new beginning next year.

Shades of Red

Some Maple Reds on my bonsai.

Autumn Colour on Root Over Rock Trident

Been waiting for this maple to start turning 🙂

Peter Warren Day 4

Well, there wasn’t really a day 4, it was the day Peter flew home, but we did manage to pop down to Stephen’s House [bonsai Baker] for a look around.

Check out the colour on his Arakawa Maple. The colour had even deepened from the Friday night meeting.

Changes

Funny how being busy at work you miss the little changes in the colour. I spotted a flash of red on the bench this morning and when I returned from work I grabbed the camera.

Brian’s Fuji

My Spirea

That’s Better

This Cotoneaster, also on rock, mustn’t be as tasty as the other one. The berries seem to have survived so far.

Fuji Autumn Colour

Very disappointed with this Fuji Cherry this year growth wise, but at least it had the common decency to provide a little colour.

Rossi is Red

Accent Autumn Colour, now officially my favourite accent.

Autumn Kicking In

Every day I see further signs of Autumn in my garden and among my bonsai. This is a shohin Spirea turning all shades of red.

Flower Show Extras

I took a few more shots at the Autumn Flower Show on Sunday, as the last set seems to be of interest to many of you, here are some more.

A general shot of the main marquee

Bonsai

Not much point trying to photograph all the trees as the clutter backdrop ruins the tree.

Plenty of cacti at the show, sadly some kid ran her nail down a prize winning one ruining it forever as far as competitive showing goes. Sometimes I wonder why we bother going to all this hassle to display here.

Almost tree like

Sunlight was catching these blooms just right through the window.

Mega veg

Floral arrangements

Even wine, everything was at this show.

This will be my entry for the Belfast Parks Photographic Competition next year 🙂

And in the grounds, the Rose Garden

An old Yew. I was admiring the nebari and took a photo, I think the Mum in the background thought I was taking photos of her kids climbing the tree!! I thought she was going to call the police.

They were just around the corner 🙂
