2012 in review

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

About 55,000 tourists visit Liechtenstein every year. This blog was viewed about 280,000 times in 2012. If it were Liechtenstein, it would take about 5 years for that many people to see it. Your blog had more visits than a small country in Europe!

Danny Use Hornbeam Forest Creation

Another great post on a blog I follow, this one was on Danny Use’s Blog showing the creation of a Hornbeam Forest over a number of years. Click on the image to visit the blog. It’s well worth following as regular posts are made with interesting content. Not like the tatt I serve up 🙂

Alcobendas 2012

I haven’t shown any of my favourite blogs in a while. I used to share interesting posts here from time to time.

As most of you know, I follow other bonsai blogs with a passion and I like to return the favour of a share or listing.

I was impressed with this one today on Jose Luis Sanchez blog,  Mi Pasion por el  Bonsai,   showing some great photography of great bonsai at the recent Alcobendas 2012 in Spain.

Here’s an example:

and here’s a link ALCOBENDAS 2012

Also a few other links to photos taken at the same Exhibition.

Bonsai is strong in Spain!! Enjoy.

Kyusyu Exhibition

Felt I had to share these photos taken at a recent Exhibition in Kyusyu, Japan. At least I think that’s where it was! I have been allowed to share these from Yumiko’s blog, I presume it’s a local show. Love the cloth colour for the tables, trees really stand out.

Kanagawa Union Bonsai Exhibition Individual Trees

For those looking for a closer look at some of the trees and accents in yesterday’s post about the Kanagawa Exhibition, here you go 🙂

Blogs Added

I’ve added a couple of Bonsai Blogs to my favourites list.

I like to check who linking to me on my stats and if I like what I see, I return the favour. Both these blogs fit the bill.

Little Trees from Sweeden has some exhibition photos and some very tasty yamadori.

Craggy Bark Bonsai is a new blog. I don’t know Paul, at least I don’t think I do! Who knows who anyone is on the internet!!  The blog reminds me of when I started mine back in February 2011. Worth a look and a follow I think.

Happy Bonsai Day

My surprise and delight when I checked in for a look at a new post on Nekotoban ‘Bonsai Days’ blog to find this birthday display just for me 🙂

Thank you so much Yumiko 😀

200,000 Thank You!!

Today this blog hit 200,000 views!!

A big thank you to all who have become regular visitors to the site, I have made lots of friends around the world and I thank you all for your support.

I started the blog on the 10th February 2011 with very little expectation as to where I was going with it other than keeping a record of my own trees. Things have got somewhat out of hand 🙂

I thought I would share some of the stats with you .

I have had visitors from 146 countries. These are the top ones from this February from my stats list.

This is my 928th post!! and I’ve had 1849 comments 🙂

It took me 10 months to hit the first 50,000 and 3 months for the last 50,000!

These are my top referrers, if you are on this list, thank you for the links.

These are the folk who got the most referrals from me.

Next stop a quarter of a million!!!

BSA Journal

Got my issue of the BSA Journal yesterday and was amazed that my little Chuhin Maple got four pages.

You’ve seen all the photos here on the blog before as I have recounted the trees story so far. As was pointed out by Fiona at the end of the article, the tree was the victim of some sort of pest attack this Spring and it lost branches. It is recovering better than anticipated with budding close to most of of the removed branches, therefore I hope that it will not be a Shohin next show!! 🙂
