Frankies Juniper

This Juniper was worked on last weekend. It belongs to Frankie but his son Phil is the main man when it comes to it’s care and styling. It was styled last year but not to Phil’s satisfaction. The extreme bend was proving hard to incorporate into the design with the current deadwood. A weak branch to the left had died. This photo shows the tree the the weak branch alive, just.

Now that the branch to the left was dead Peter Snart suggested that part of the deadwood should be removed and the bend bent down further with a clamp. This is it clamped down a little but the jin is stopping it going any further.

Jin removed, cranked down further and tied off with 2mm copper wire. Even this stretched with the pressure but there was no sign of any cracks in the bend.

This now opens up many new options for styling and creating an unusual tree, but that will have to wait for another day. Next step will probably to create a bend in the next section of trunk line to add more movement and bring the foliage back over the centre of the tree.

They’re coming thick and fast…

It feels like only a few days ago we were treated to Episode 13, oh, it was only a few days ago 😀

Enjoy.

A few other trees ……

Another Tree Delivery

This time I did absolutely no lifting, other than the camera 🙂

My friend Stephen getting a door to door service with the delivery of his new Maple Raft.

My New Addition

This weekend I added this Root Over Rock Trident Maple to my Collection. I love working with Tridents and have always loved the root over rock ones that I’ve seen. I spotted this tree at Willowbog Bonsai a few weeks ago and Peter brought it over to NI for me on Friday. It has an interesting rock with a little pool area holding water and it looks like pretty decent ramification. Looking forward to seeing it bare in a few weeks time.

Full House, or Should I Say Garage!

This was my garage today during a club Bonsai School. Once I get time to draw breath I’ll post more photos!

Neighbours weren’t too impressed with the parking either!! 🙂

All Set

Spent a few hours with Stephen yesterday sorting out my garage to get ready for the Willowbog Bonsai School that’s being held this weekend. I wish I could have a garage full of crap like everybody else instead of this constant clearing out cycle. Had a laugh with Stephen as I kept throwing stuff up into the rafters and hiding crap under cloth covered tables. I love it really.

You can just see the wheels of the lawnmower under the cloth 😀 It’s sitting beside the kitchen sink!!

Flag Counter

Some of you may have noticed that I added the flag counter widget to the blog. I spotted it on the Bonsai Ireland Site a week ago and thought it looked like fun. Clicking on the widget gives you further details on the countries that have visited.

I’m amazed that I’m showing over 40 countries and I’m even up to 20 of the 51 states in America as well. As expected, English speaking countries feature highly, obviously the UK is the highest. Portugal is way up there too, but that’s due to Rodrigo’s Kintall Bonsai blog link. Cheers mate 🙂 Strangely, I have only one hit from the Republic of Ireland! I’ve had twice as many hits from Bangladesh,Go figure?!

It’s all a bit of fun, it’s free and adds an extra bit of enjoyment to blogging.
