An update for Mario in the U.A.E. Your Korean Hornbeam would seem to be rather confused! It must think that it’s with you in the desert!! Look at the late growth in the last week or so.

I thought that this was a strange combination of colour in my flowerbed.
A Japanese Maple in Autumn reds, a Rhododendron in Flower and a Fuschia in the back covered in flowers.

Found these Short clips on You Tube. Each is a clip of an individual tree on display at the Festival international de bonsaï 2011. Worth a few minutes of anyones time. It’s also worth looking through some of his other videos. His Dexter Intro is superb 🙂
After a week of nearly constant rain, the gruesome foursome took their normal Sunday morning walk. After a quick check out the window I donned a warm jacket only to shed it after 20 minutes in the warm sunshine.

The brothers grim 🙂 I know you check this Sam, and it would be remiss of me not to follow on from the Gorrillas in the mist dig from the last walk 🙂

Extra light hitting the forest floor now that leaf drop is well under way.
A Larch on the Autumn turn.
Peeking out over County Down.
Every time a walk past this cottage in the country, I want to move in! Wonder if the back garden is big enough for my bonsai collection 🙂

I was playing around with the camera again today. Getting a few better snaps of my trees. Also tried a slightly different lighting set up. It’s still a bit Mickey Mouse, but it’ll do.

Ben brought this little Cotoneaster along to the workshop last weekend. While Peter was busy doing the deadwood on several Larch, Ben and I had a look at this little fellow. I could have sworn I took a before photo but I can’t one one of it now! Anyway, this is it after we gave the few pruning scars a little bit of refinement with the dremel to make them more natural looking. Some fine wire was added to get the young branches positioned in the right areas. Next year this will fill out rapidly and create a lovely little tree.

These will be the final photos of my Fuji Cherry for the year. When it eventually started turn it went very quickly. I experimented on it this year by defoliating it. I don’t think it made any difference with the depth of colour or how long it held the leaves. This was it on 4th October.

and this was it yesterday with a touch more red colour. Pity most of the leaves have fallen already.

I have been watching this Maple out of my window all week. It has been changing colour in front of my eyes.
This was it back on the 4th October.

and this was it today.

If the wind stays away, I’m in for a treat over the next few days 🙂 Taking it to my club meeting tomorrow night to add a splash of colour.
