Corkbark Elm Colour

This little Corkbark elm has come a long way in 2 years after I layered the top off. This was it earlier in the week. It was in a green house and had therefore held it’s leaves. I took a snap before I hoed off the dad leaves.

Hornbeam Project

This field grown Hornbeam is going to be one of my Winter projects. Some wiring and carving required. This tree has had very little work so far but it will make a nice tree with time.

Higo Gayu-kai 10th Aniversery Exhibition

Some great trees shared by Nekotoban on her Bonsai Days blog.

Bonsai Exhibition, Kannapolis, NC

For my North American friends, just in case you are passing! Yes, I know, it’s a big country, but over here in wee Northern Ireland, we are always just passing 😀

I have family living in North Carolina, one of these days I might get over for a visit and try and time it to clash with a local show 😉

Another Beech Wood walk today, this time at Redburn, overlooking Belfast. It was all yellows and browns and as usual I found a few Fungi too.

R.I.P Peter Adams

Just heard that Peter Adams has sadly died. A true artist in the bonsai world.  I think I have every book that he wrote in my collection. His drawings were inspirational. Rest in peace.

These words below taken from his joint Facebook Page and written by his wife Kate.

‘I am so sorry to report that Peter died suddenly, but peacefully, in his sleep last Sunday, November 24. It was very unexpected, we had just enjoyed a marvellous visit together on Saturday and he drew a sketch of me as I sat there. His death has been so very hard to accept, especially since we planned to leave for home together next Monday, December 2.
There will be a memorial at a later date. Details will be advised on this page. His ashes will come home with me soon.
I miss him so very terribly.’
