Japanese Tsunami – Moving On

Smithy on the Wee Trees Forum shared this today.

Great to see things moving on.

$1,000,000 Bonsai, Don’t drop it!!!

How many people does it take to lift a $1 000 000 bonsai?

I make it 7 Japanese and Peter Warren 🙂

Thick and Fast…

They are coming thick and fast, hot on the heals of episode 19, comes episode 20 looking at the creation of deadwood on a shohin Juniper and a Japanese Red Pine.

I’m sure most of you are following bjorvalabonsai on Youtube by now, but just in case you aren’t, click the image below for episode 3.

Another great bonsai blog to follow

Happy days, another Western Bonsai Artist has started his own bonsai blog about his apprenticeship and experiences in Japan.

This time it’s Tyler Sherrod from the USA who is studying under Mr. Shinji Suzuki in Obuse, Japan.

It’s a new blog but I feel it’s important enough to add to my links list. Where else can we learn lessons direct from the source 🙂

Further to my last….

…about the Tsunami relief, here’s a link to an interesting article in the Mail online about the so called harmony in post tsunami Japan. It does not make pleasant reading and is all the more reason you should send a few shillings to Dru’s Paypal account at kyokomurasugi@yahoo.co.jp to get help right to those who need it.

Mail Online

Here’s the latest email I got from Dru.

“I just got back from Ishinomaki and believe me i cannot ever  possibly say “ive done enough” . There is too much to do .We will be in this story until they dont need us . Then we will stop with a smile. The more i go up there the more i see how much they need, especially fuit and veg for the old people and kids. A few people 2.5 months ago said please dont forget us in a few months so we wont.”

The Bonsai Art of Japan Episode 2

This has got to be one of the better quality You Tube Bonsai channels, both in content and in production. I thought the advice on leaf pruning maples in this episode was particularly good. Wish they were longer!
