First Accent of 2015 potted up yesterday in a nice Magic Ceramic Pot.
An unusual choice for an accent but it’s been getting smaller every year. This year will tell if it’s going to be a success.

Delighted to get home yesterday to find a parcel. Wasn’t expecting anything but Xavier, who I swap with every year had surprised me. Not just plants this time but a very nice wood fired pot as well. Some new hostas and a Sisyrinchium Alba that I’m looking forward to seeing in flower. All now potted up, some put straight into Magic pots too 🙂
I had a visit from Robert Porch, aka the Accent man a few days ago. Sadly I missed him at the house, but he did leave this crate of goodies.
This is the contents, only 3 of the 30 are named, so this is a bit of a quiz, if you recognises any of the varieties please let me know. There are a few Alliums, Saxafrage, hosta, rose etc in there.
Cultivating this Rubus for accent use this year. It’s got a Taiwanese origins I believe, at least that’s what I think I was told by Pat when I got it from him! This is it’s flower. It’s staying tight in the pot which is a good sign, no big runners like a bramble!! Be interesting to see if it sets fruit. Anybody know the name of it?
Whilst browsing through the multitudes of stock at Bali Hai nursery last year I decided to give a small variety of Agapanthus a go for a Kusamono. I actually got 3 varieties but this one has come out the best. It’s Snow Pixie. I’m hoping that with a few years in a pot the flower will produce a shorter stalk but if it doesn’t, I think I’m happy with the result. Maturity will help. Not quite open yet, I’ll post again when in flower flower.
I have 3 mini roses acquired from Jose over in Tenerife . At the weekend I decided to take a few cutting to increase my stock. I took a cutting about a week ago and popped it into the humidity layer I put some of my accents on and this was the result. I guest it worked.
I took cuttings from all three roses and potted them into a mix of fine cat litter and fine pumice. Well see how it goes. The parent rose in this kusamono planting is very vigorous as you can see from the roots.
Even got some super mini Rose cuttings 🙂
