The Other Bit of the Garden

I posted a few snaps of my display area a few weeks ago and some said how they were amazed that I could fit so much into a small space. Well, the reason for that is that I have another area down the back for everything else. Far too much stuff to be honest but a lot of it isn’t mine. That’s my excuse and I’m sticking too it. It’s getting a major overhaul this Winter as the benches at this end are done.

Ed’s Garden

Last week I popped into see a new club member Ed. It was a shocking day with constant rain but we still managed to get a look aroung his garden and his growing collection of bonsai. Ed’s only been doing bonsai for about a year and has a mixture of bought trees and raw material that he’s practicing on to gain skill.

RIP Google Reader

It’s the last few hours of Google Reader. I’ll be sad to see it go. I’ve been using it for a few years now to follow 100’s of bonsai blogs.

I’ve been experimenting with some of the alternatives and I’ve decided that Feedly is the one for me. I know some of you have been using my reader bundle to follow the same blogs. Might be worth getting Feedly on the go. I’ve been using it on PC and on mobile and it’s been a smooth transition.

Carnlough Harbour

A few snaps I took at Carnlough Harbour on Saturday while Stephen and Vanessa were getting the fish suppers 🙂

This little fishing village is now better known as the home town of Brendan Rodgers, Liverpool FC’s Manager and of course the location of Bali Hai Nursery 🙂

Bali Hai Haul

As promised, this is the haul of plants that I got yesterday at Bali Hai Nursery. Mostly Hosta and Rhodohypoxis, but a few other oddities thrown in as well. You will notice one that is rather large for an accent, that’s going below my display bench, I just couldn’t resist the leaf colour.

Interesting comment that now is actually a good time to split hostas. Stephen and I always did this in Spring as growth emerges although that is seemingly a good time to trim the roots on hostas to keep them small leafed.
