Magic Ceramics

I’ve just posted a sales page for accent pots by Magic Ceramics. Magic, or to be true to his real name ‘MACIEJ’ Targosinski is a great bloke who I met through the Leinster Bonsai Club.

He has a passion for bonsai especially mame but has turned his hand to ceramics. I asked him to make some more accent pots and well, things got out of hand 🙂 So here we are now with myself helping him promote his accent pots via my blog. He has a great range of ideas and sizes with glazes galore! He has another batch coming before Christmas which I can’t wait to see.

I’m not making money out of this partnership although I do get my pick of the pots which is a nice perk 😉 I think that it’s important to support new and local talent and Maciej certainly fits the bill.

If you are interested in any of the pots please note the reference number and enquire via my ‘Contact Me’  tab at the top of the page.

Avon Tyrrell Bonsai Workshop 2014 Video

Great video here that captures the moments from this years Avon Tyrrell Bonsai Workshop back in October.

If you are interested in next years workshop running October 16th to 18th then give Dean a shout via email: avontyrrell.bonsai@gmail.com

Ryan’s Back

It’s not looking good for me making it over to the Ryan Neil workshops at Willowbog Bonsai in April. I’m truly gutted about it.

I can’t see Ryan making it to the UK too often and this is a missed opportunity. Having done a workshop back in 2013 I know just what I’m going to be missing.

Here’s a taster from 2013, the videos from the demo day.

One to One – San Jose Juniper

This little San Jose Juniper got a refining on Saturday at a one to one session. A few more issues to address next year but it’s coming along nicely for it’s owner.

Winter Image – Korean Hornbeam

My Korean Hornbeam was very slow to drop leaves this Autumn. This was it on the 15th November!

This was it this weekend just past it’s best colour.

These always make for interesting viewing.

Sunday’s Walk

A nice 8 mile walk in woods and then coastline. Always nice to see the seasons change.

Always a sucker for fungi

This Birch was clinging on to life. This whole side was deadwood but a live vein can be seen running up the other side.

My constant companion on a walk, Maggie. Smudge is somewhat of a front runner and prone to run ahead to the nearest person at the waters edge willing to throw a stone for him. One of these days someone’s going to pinch him on me!

Big Bonsai

I popped over to a friends house on Saturday with a view to helping him select a tree for entering in Bonsai Europa next Autumn. It was nice to see some of these trees for the first time in Winter image.

This Beech is a monster.

This Acer Campestre or Field Maple isn’t much smaller.

And a little smaller again, this Ulmus Glabra or Wych Elm. Hard to see with the poor backdrop but again, you get the idea.

And last but not least is a Hazel, it’s covered in Catkins for next Spring and even produced 6 Hazelnuts this year past.

Tree selected and plans made. Josh in one of the nicest bonsai people I know but then the rest of us are all oddballs 🙂
