The Bonsai Experience – Belfast 2015

Hawthorn

This one was repotted to do another root adjustment, it’s taking it a while to remove problem surface roots to allow it to fit in a final pot. This one’s temporary, one pot to go 🙂

Kusamono in New Pot

I was gifted this pot a few months ago. A truly stunning pot from a wood fired kiln [Anagama]. I have planted it up with various plants but will take a good year to fill out.  DSC_0795

Workshop County Clare

In efforts to spread the bonsai word to all of Ireland, we now venture to Bunratty in County Clare. This time we add a new partnership to the mix with the newly opened Bud Garden Centre. The Munster Bonsai Club guys, as usual, are pushing to spread the art of bonsai and this time around we move from County Cork, right up to Clare. This gives a great opportunity to any bonsai interested folk in the west to take part. On the edge of Connaught, we open up a new portion of Ireland to wee trees. If you are reading this and are thinking of taking the plunge, be assured that none of us take ourselves to seriously, and that the main aim of the day will be to play with wee trees, make new friends and learn in an enjoyable friendly atmosphere. As a wise woman once said, “Go on, ya will, ya will, ya will” 😉

Another One!

You’d think I’d have enough plants for accent/kusamono, but apparently not! I was at a local Garden Centre on Saturday with my better half for a coffee and spotted a few plants in the Alpine section that took my fancy. A nice Dwarf Aquilegia, Primula and a Mazus which I’d never heard of.

After a little poking and splitting and a few Magic Ceramic pots, this is the results. I have a few set aside for future use as well.

Tall Larch

I had planned to rewire my taller Larch this Spring but I missed my window of opportunity, and as a result it’s springing out of shape. Still looks pretty good but prefer it in the second photo after wiring a few years ago.
