Bonsai School Videos

I’ve been putting a few more videos together over the weekend. These have been taken from the NIBS/Willowbog Bonsai School on Saturday 4th June. I’m up to Part 4 of 8 for the day and maybe a few more from the workshop the following day.

The first two are on Wind Burn and Winter Protection, and the two just added cover tree Structure from Roots to Ramification. They are long, but worth setting time aside for if you have a spare half hour sometime. I’ll be trying to get the defoliation ones done in the next few days. I’m running out of time before my holiday 🙂

Movie Maker

I spent a few hours today putting together a video to show case our club display at the weekend. Nothing too fancy, just something put together with Movie Maker. I’m getting to grips with the camera and it’s video functions. I even managed to find time at the show to take a few clips of individual bonsai.

I’m amazed by the success of our Club You Tube Channel that started back in November and has nearly 13,000 views to date!! I know I trawl around looking for good quality or informative bonsai videos on the net, it appears I’m not alone 🙂 With a little extra effort we have been able to put together clips of tree progressions, shows and the popular Bonsai School. These seem to be what people want. They are not up to the standard of the Graham Potter, Bonsai Basho, Atelierbonsai  or  Bjorvalabonsai, but add to the total of the online bonsai community.

If you want to have a look at the latest video, it’s just went live on the channel. Click below to view.

The Art of Bonsai Japan Episode 3

I keep posting these as they come out. Quality vids well worth the 10 minutes to watch.

The Bonsai Art of Japan Episode 2

This has got to be one of the better quality You Tube Bonsai channels, both in content and in production. I thought the advice on leaf pruning maples in this episode was particularly good. Wish they were longer!

Great to see Bonsai Focus now have their own You Tube Channel. Just watched the video of Ryan Neil styling a Pine. I had already read the article in the latest magazine last week, but the video added to the information in a way a photograph never will.

Here’s a link to the channel.

You Tube Video Clip

Here’s a link to another nice clip from Erik aka Atelier Bonsai Element showing the bonsai garden of Miroslav Škrabal this Spring. A stunning set up it what looks like a stunning location.

Bonsai Heaven?

I think I could spend about 3 years walking around this room alone. What an experience it must be to attend Kokofu Ten in Japan. One day……

Video on Hawthorn

Graham Potter has released another video clip on You Tube. This one looks at styling a Hawthorn, a tree close to my heart 🙂

You can view it here. Potter Hawthorn

Worth a watch

Love this little video clip. Very well put together and some amazing bonsai.

Video Catch Up

I’m trying to play catch up with the video clips I have taken over the last few months. As yesterday was a wet one, I spent an hour or so putting together a clip from a recent visit to a friend and club members garden. Josh was my inspiration when I joined the club back in 1993. His trees were the best on offer even back then. His skills and experience in developing bonsai in open ground are amazing. He is also one of the nicest people you could meet.

Click on the photo below to link to the video clip. Enjoy.
