Ian B’s Trident

Ian Brought this Trident Maple on Saturday. Not much done, just a little structural pruning of branches to remove crossing or overly thickened ramification. A few tweaks with wire but that’s it.

I suggested a slight change of front from the one showing. With a slight turn the back branch comes more into view adding a little more depth to the image.

I did a little thinning out of unwanted buds on this maple. I also wanted to remove the moss that was mostly growing on the tree and hiding the nebari. I also noticed a new root emerging from the moss, it’s on the move already.

Trim and Tuck

Yesterday I did a little trimming back of Summer extension growth on a few deciduous trees before tucking them away in the green house for Winter.

I’m trying to increase the overall outline of this Trident maple and have therefore allowed for more extension than normal to remain.

Chuhin Maple – A Long Year

This little Maple has had a hell of a year. After winning an award in the BSA Exhibition back in March it was attacked by some sort of pest and lost numerous branches. After putting me through the mill for a few months thinking it was going to be a very long time before it would be a decent tree again, it decided to pop buds. It budding in areas were I honest thought it had dessicated. It still going to take a few years to work it back to anything approaching it’s best, but it’ll get there. It rewarded me with this Autumn colour as a sign of new beginning next year.
