Yesterday’s Walk up Cavehill

Had a lovely walk with family friends and dogs up Cavehill yesterday morning. Sadly the view over Belfast City was obscured by haze but that’s better than the usual cold rain we normally get up there!

Amazing Photography

Photobotos.com follows this blog and being a generally nosey chap I was returning the favour and noticed this stunning photo of a Pine on Loch Lomand.

I then popped over to the photographers website and spent a very nice 30 minutes browsing through some excellent photos of the Scottish Landscape, many of them featuring trees. Result 🙂

Yesterdays Walk under Blue Sky

Some may think it strange to mention a blue sky. but it’s a real rarity here! I think it’s now safe to say that Spring has arrived. Plenty of flowers to share. Here’s the usual offering of photos to entice you to the Ards Peninsula.

Further Inspiration

My go to guy for good photos is Hugh from the club. Recently converted to bonsai, Hugh has been scouring his back catalogue of photos looking for inspiration. He came across these two from a trip to America a few years back. I think he said they were taken at the Grand Canyon, I may be wrong!

Today’s Dander

This morning we walked from Ballyholme in Bangor to Orlock Point. This is the next part of the coast line past were we normally walk. Here’s a map.

Compared to the Baltic weather experienced in my garage last weekend, today was actually very mild indeed.

Being watched

The overgrown sandstone quarry where all the famous Scrabo Stone was quarried from. It’s now home to 100’s of Jackdaws.

A tunnel cut under what used to be the railway line used to take the stone from the quarry.

360 Photos

I love the way 360 flash images can be made of our trees allowing you to spin the tree around to appreciate it from every side.

Then Hugh from the club sent me a link to these 360 images that are just spectacular! Makes you wonder where technology will take us next.

Forest Inspiration

Last Friday, when Graham brought this Larch Forest to my house for some work it was admired by some of the other guys there.

Hugh was one of them and a few days later he sent me this photograph that he took in Connemara. It’s a Pine wood growing on an Island at a place called Lough Clare. Hugh said that the larch group reminded him of this photo and he looked it out for me. If you want to view a bigger image just pop over to my FlickR account, link on the side bar.

As much as I like Graham’s larch Forest, it has a ways to go before it matches this beautiful scene. I feel a Summer trip to the West of Ireland coming on 🙂
