This is rather a nice example of “Taxus Baccata” and I wish I owned one half as good. The deadwood is very reminiscent of one or two mature yews I have seen locally here in Wexford southern Ireland. I am now about to commit the cadinal sin in bonsai terms, with apologises to Bonsai eejit ( who I firmly believe is nobody”s
idiot) if this tree belonged to me I would consider removing the first branch on the right hand side, and possibly the second one as well. it looks to me from the photo that these bottom two branches are parallel, of course I realise that photos dont always tell the truth. Please dont be offended just a thought.

Hi Freddie,
Thanks for having a look. I’m also happy to discuss my bonsai, I wouldn’t expect everyone to have the same views. That’s part of the fun in bonsai.
This Chuhin sized tree needs a full rewire and some of the branches have sprung over the last few years. I’ll be posting more photos of it this year after the work has been completed. I feel once this is done that a few of the issues you raise will be resolved.
Interested in those yew you refer too. Are they the Irish Yew ‘Fastigiata’ ?
