Ian, the new pot is a winner.
The image I immediately see is of a ‘uni-chicken’ which would be enhanced by removing the low branch on the right and having a big canopy (the feathed body). I am not being facetious – I really think do it would be a fine art piece, ala Nick Lenz, as the image of a chicken’s leg.

Definitely an improvement. The shallower pot depth and less prominent feet work much better with this tree.
